Mitsuteru Ueshiba

Mitsuteru Ueshiba

UESHIBA Mitsuteru Waka Sensei, Hombu Dojo-cho

Mitsuteru Ueshiba (植芝充央 Ueshiba Mitsuteru, born 1981) is the son of Moriteru Ueshiba Aikido Dōshu. He is the great-grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, the Aikido Founder. Mitsuteru Ueshiba is referred to as Waka-sensei (若先生) and this term was applied to Moriteru Ueshiba when II Dōshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba was still alive. Literally from Japanese language “Waka” means “young”, however in this case the meaning is completely different. In Japanese culture the term of “Waka”, is referred to the “successor” (後継者), the person that will continue after his father (in this case Dōshu).

Minegishi Sensei holds the rank of 7th Dan. She was born in Japan in July 1940. She finished a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education at the Yokohama National University, Japan, followed by an MA degree in linguistics at the University of Kansas, USA. She founded the Kiribati Aikikai (1989), Saipan Aikikai (1994), Guam Aikikai (1999) and Croatia Aikikai Federation (2006) and acts as Technical Director in these countries. She became the Technical Advisor to Monaco Aikido Federation in 2009 and is AFSA’s Honorary President.
Franco Martufi Sensei is Technical Advisor to the Aikido Federation of South Africa. Martufi Sensei’s clear, precise aikido has been the solid foundation upon which our practice in South Africa rests. Martufi Sensei heads his own dojo in Rome, Italy, and visits South Africa regularly.
De Beer Sensei is the Dojo-cho of TuksAikido and instructor in charge of the Pretoria Aikikai. He is ranked 6th Dan. He serves as advisor on both AFSA’s Technical Committee and grading panel and was a former president of AFSA. He has more than 40 years experience in Aikido and is a Founder member of the Aikido Federation of South Africa (AFSA). He instructs at national seminars and some of his articles on Aikido has been published in leading SA and international magazines.
Bruce Allemann Sensei (born in Pietermaritzburg 1964) is a 5th Dan Aikikai and AFSA's Chief Instructor. Bruce lives in Cape Town and teaches adults and children actively in his dojo in the picturesque seaside suburb of Fish Hoek.
